Learn how to dementia-proof your diet & lifestyle

15th May 2024 is #AlzheimersPreventionDay! Every step you take with your nutrients, diet, lifestyle and activity is a step towards prevention.

Alzheimer's, which is two thirds of all dementia, is not an inevitable consequence of ageing, nor is it all 'in your genes'. It is a chronic disease and largely a preventable one. We know quite a lot about how you can, at least, halve your risk and the number of people developing dementia. There is currently no cure for dementia, despite the advances of medicines. Ultimately, prevention and taking action NOW is better than waiting for a cure.

For a deep dive into learning about optimising cognitive function and brain health, there is much to ponder in this long interview with Andrew Huberman and Dr. Mark D'Esposito, M.D., a neurologist and professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley.

For those interested in the use of nootropics to enhance cognitive function, veteran functional medicine educator Chris Kresser covers this well in his content dense and evidence rich podcast on nutrients for brain function. These nutrients are well published on but please consult your provider on appropriateness for your individual use.
